This morning, the Minister for Employment, Michaela Cash announced the successful organisations for the federal government program, Empowering Youth Initiatives (EYI) Round 2. Amongst the winning bidders was iEmpower Youth Inc. with a very innovative proposal that provides a platform for young people to take control of their own careers.
Participants in the iEmpower Youth Cooperative initiative will contribute to the establishment and management of a graffiti removal and cleaning cooperative, developing their employability skills and understanding of business management principles. They will also gain the experience necessary to branch out into other industries, including event preparation, security and property maintenance.
The program has been a long time in the making and carefully planned by Abeselom Nega (CEO iEmpower), Ahmed Dini (ASFA) and Richard Ryan from Careers Central Victoria/iEmpower. We believe that this methodology is the way forward in career development and fighting unemployment not just for young people but for any disadvantaged Australians.
Our program is restricted to the Melbourne area (inner West, inner North and central Melbourne) at this stage but we plan to expand the idea at a later date to other regions. We welcome enquiries from any unemployed youth in those areas mentioned above. You should contact us at iEmpower on 03 9372 2333 or email info@iempower.com.au
